Link Popularity (Page Rank)
You have two choices regarding the world wide web:
- Be a website which can be found in search engines - "the
visible web"
- Be a website which can't be found in search engines -
"the invisible web".
Well i know which part i'd like to belong to - which part
would you like to belong to?
Unfortunately it's not your decision to be in "the
visible web", and in fact roughly speaking only 1
in 500 websites belong to "the visible web".
Google has over 1 Billion pages indexed - that means there
are some 500 billion pages out there not being listed in a
google search!
Improving your chances
In short Link Popularity is the way to go and has
been for sometime now.
What's that i hear you cry.......well it's simply this. The
more websites which link to you from popular sites the better
it is for your link popularity.
What Google has to Say
"Important, high-quality sites receive a higher PageRank,
which Google remembers each time it conducts a search. Of
course, important pages mean nothing to you if they don't
match your query. So, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated
text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important
and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number
of times a term appears on a page and examines all aspects
of the page's content (and the content of the pages linking
to it) to determine if it's a good match for your query."
